How to prepare for your head spa treatment:
Pre-Appointment Steps
• Hair State: Ideally, arrive with "day-old" clean hair that is dry and gently detangled to save time during the session.
• Clothing & Accessories: Wear loose, comfortable clothing (like cotton shirts or yoga attire) since you will be lying flat for a long duration. Remove necklaces, earrings, and head accessories beforehand to avoid interference with the massage.
• Timing with Chemical Treatments: If you recently colored your hair, wait at least one week before your head spa, as the deep cleansing process may cause fresh color to fade.
• Physical Restrictions: Most head spas cannot be performed if you have extensions, braids, or sew-ins, as they obstruct access to the scalp.
• Arrival: Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete intake forms regarding allergies or scalp sensitivities (e.g., dryness or oiliness).
What to Avoid
• Washing: Do not wash your hair immediately before the appointment and allow one to two days post treatment to wash your hair.
• Limit Heating Style: Minimize use of hot styling tools such as blow dryers, curling irons and straighteners after headspa treatment.
• Styling: Avoid all styling products and tight hairstyles such as a pony tail or tight braid on the day of the session. Our technician can loosely braid hair post treatment.
• Exfoliation: Skip at-home scalp scrubs for 24–48 hours prior to avoid over-sensitizing your skin before professional treatment.
Health & Safety Considerations
• Pregnancy: Inform the spa if you are pregnant. Some treatments use essential oils like lavender that may require medical clearance, and lying flat on your back for an hour may be uncomfortable.
Scalp Conditions: Disclose any open sores, infections, or recent surgeries. If you suffer from chronic migraines, vertigo, or severe neck pain, notify your therapist so they can adjust their technique.
